Dr. Peterson’s been using Ampligen in ME/CFS for 27 years. It seems like the drug has been sitting in limbo regarding ME/CFS forever – yet Ampligen is just one phase 3 trial away from becoming the first FDA-approved drug for ME/CFS – and no other drug is close.
Cidofovir, saline and amino acid infusions are other treatments Dr. Peterson has found effective in his practice but for which little or no data exists on their effectiveness in ME/CFS.
Dr. Peterson and the Simmaron Research Foundation have two projects underway to demonstrate that these treatments work in ME/CFS – and ultimately help to expand their availability for people with ME/CFS.
One involves prospective analyses done in collaboration with the CDC and Maureen Hanson to demonstrate Cidofovir and other treatments can be effective. The other is a unique Ampligen study that takes advantage of a time when the drug was not available to show how it’s positively impacting ME/CFS patients’ immune systems and functioning.

Good luck. Never been convinced about ampligen, at all. Hope I am wrong.
I hope and think you are…I think just takes the right person – the right subset – if this study can elucidate that would be huge. Dr. Lapp did a retrospective study which concluded the Ampligen was actually quite effective
We so need media publicity. Patients on national tv sharing stories. Get them on Oprah, Ellen, every popular prime time program. These days if it isn’t hyped on national tv, nobody understands or cares. We need the same attention given to aids, cancer, MS. Many of us are treading quicksand.
So true – an study finding that Ampligen or Cidofovir is effective in a subset of patients would definitely help with that. 🙂
I doubt we’ll get any national or TV coverage until someone with star power gets ill/ has a friend or relative who does and pushes the right person that books people on whichever program. my take is it’s very likely come up and thus far they’ve passed us over. damn them!
Ampligen has been legal in Argentina for a while. Is there any news from there on its effectiveness?
Haven’t heard anything yet
Wasn’t there a huge sale of Ampligen to the Netherlands and (I think???) maybe Belgium?
This is the last i found about it https://www.biospace.com/article/aim-immunotech-provides-update-on-commercial-launch-of-ampligen-r-in-argentina-for-the-treatment-of-chronic-fatigue-syndrome/
Ampligen can also be a drug for pancreatic cancer.
About 8 years ago, My Naturopath Dr. had me tested for my Amino Acid status. The lab. was Drs Data in the USA. Most of my essential Amino Acids were rock bottom. Enclosed with the extensive report, was the exact amounts of each Amino Acids I needed to meet my needs. He then sent the prescription to be filled by a compounding pharmacy. My AA replacements came in the form of a white crystal/ powder and I was instructed to take 1 rounded teaspoon 2xday.
Within 1 week of taking the AA powder, I felt like my brain had woken up. My sleep and cognitive problems improved significantly.
I may be one of a subtype that cannot digest food properly that provides essential amino acids as well as not being able to synthesis protein. My ND. had put me on a good quality digestive enzyme that also included the digestive acid. Panplex-2-phase by Integrative Therapeutics, which I purchase from totalhealthvitamins.com in the USA. It works well for my stomach issues, but obviously I still could not synthesis the protein.
A great book to purchase on Amino Acids is: HEAL WITH AMINO ACIDS AND NUTRIENTS by Billy J.Sahley,PH.D.,C.N.C. and Katherine M. Birkner,C.R.N.A., PH.D.
My Amino Acid prescription costs me $1600.Canadian per year. It will be interesting to see how much Ampligen costs once the trials are over, as it was $20,000.annually a few years ago.
It’s great to hear that movement on some therapies are happening!!!
The system is rigged folks. The company that makes the drug is not one of the big billion dollar companies. The drug is much safer than many and special interest has stalled it from being available. How dare you make a drug which kicks in the immune system
