It sounds absolutely crazy, but some people swear that sleeping or lying on “beds of nails”; i.e. acupressure mats embedded with thousands of hard plastic points – actually improves their energy, helps them to relax and to sleep better. .
In fact, the Russian who invented acupressure mats did so for his chronic pain. One small study done in healthy controls suggested that they might be able to help with two problems in ME/CFS/FM by reduce heart rates during sleep and increasing heart rate variability.
Still no ME/CFS/FM studies have been done and precious little other information exists. One person in the Health Rising Forums, however, found to her surprise that the mat actually helped. Should you add sleeping on a bed of nails to your treatment regiment?
