The body uses fever to increase the immune response and reduce cytokine production. During the Covid-19 (Sars Cov-2) worldwide emergency, Dr. John Campbell (retired ER nurse, for over 40 years) provided daily updates on the virus, and took time to also explore how fever / body temperature increase can help the immune system to fight off pathogens.
Since my illness goes on all the time, and tyroid deficiency causes me to have low body temp, I think, for me, the best self defense is to take hot baths, or buy a hot tub (since I can afford that). But this also gives more credence to the theory that "red light therapy" or IR light sources can help a person feel better.
