Almost 1,000 people with ME/CFS and/or FM answered Health Rising's sleep survey asking about their quality of sleep, the type of sleep problems they face, what makes their sleep worse and how effective sleep drugs, supplements and sleep practices were.
Klonopin and Ambien (53%) were tops in the effectiveness category with antihistamines (48%) and Flexeril, a muscle relaxant, coming in close behind (47%). Flexeril is commonly used off-label in FM to reduce pain, and this survey suggests it has a major positive effect on sleep in ME/CFS and FM.
The participants also left hundreds of comments including many on drugs and supplements that not found in the survey.
