Your Crash in a Graph? How Heart Rate Variability Testing Could Help You Improve Your Health

Thanks for this, it was really interesting. I notice you have not yet posted your second blog (either that or I can't find it). Please keep us updated if you still plan to do this, as I am just starting out with HRV and I would find it very useful. No pressure i you are not feeling up to it!
Thanks for this. I am in the process of getting the cash together for the HRM and this was helpful.

So glad it was helpful Sue. I hope it proves a really useful tool for you
Thanks for this info. I use my fitbit HR but these Apps would give better feedback on HRV over the hour, day, week etc. Plus it'll valuable information for my doctors.

Thanks Katie. My ME/CFS specialist was super interested in my HRV work. I think your Dr will love the info
So interesting as this level controls everything. I am wondering about having to have a Dr. RX to get one f the monitors. Perhaps this is why a lot of the Dr on CFS think we have heart issues????? Also I do well on my CPAP sleep machine as I can tell where my HR is all the time-when sleeping. Before this I would have bursts of my Heart racing during sleep. ???

Thanks Carole - glad you found it interesting. You don't need a Dr's prescription to buy a monitor.
I've been tracking my HR for two years with a Mio Alpha and the Wahoo app because they were the only HR monitors (at that time) that did not smooth out/average numbers; together I could track second-to-second HR all day. The bummer was that the only way to get a graph that I could print out to compare from day-to-day was for my husband to download into Excel and physically build the graph--10 to 15 min. every time. (Yes, I know how lucky I am!) I just switched to a FitBit Charge HR because it's wrist-based and provides the HR graph as well as steps and sleep info. Reading about HRV though, I really want to do this as well. All of the data adds to more validation from others as well as better self care. The chest strap is a drawback, but might be worth it for the info.

Thanks Carollyn. I resisted the idea of a chest strap too - it seems so 20th century! :) But you only need it for 5 minutes or so each morning, and my data from it has been so useful, that it has most certainly been worth it.
Congratulations on one of the more interesting blogs I've read in awhile.

Thank you Cort, and many thanks for helping to get the info out there. I hope it helps others as much as it has helped me
